Dr. Stefano Cacciatore is the scientific co-organizer for this inaugural 1st cancer genomics meeting. leads the Bioinformatics Unit at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) in Cape Town. His research focuses on the development of bioinformatics tools and statistical approaches for applications in human health, with a particular interest in omics data analysis. He has a background in machine learning and data science, with specific expertise in metabolomics and the interpretation of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectra. His work has contributed to a better understanding of how metabolic profiles can reflect inflammation and disease progression, particularly in prostate cancer. At ICGEB, he collaborates across disciplines to support projects in cancer research and translational biology, combining computational methods with biological insight.
