
Dr. Richard Banda World Health Organization (WHO) Representative to Namibia is an accomplished public health specialist with over 25 years of experience in health policy, technical cooperation, and international health dialogue. Appointed as the World Health Organization (WHO) Representative to Namibia in June 2024, Dr. Banda brings a wealth of expertise from his previous role as WHO Representative to the Kingdom of Lesotho, where he served for nearly five years. His career with WHO spans two decades, during which he has contributed significantly to TB/HIV program management and public health emergency responses across sub-Saharan Africa, including Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, and Malawi. Dr. Banda has played pivotal roles in managing responses to pandemics such as COVID-19, Ebola, and Cholera, and has been instrumental in advancing universal health coverage and the elimination of vertical transmission of HIV and Hepatitis B. His leadership continues to strengthen partnerships and health systems in Namibia and the region.
