Dr. Laina IIyambo

Head of Department Radiation Oncology at the Windhoek Central Hospital

Young enthusiastic medical practitioner with a combined 15 years of experience in the medical field of which she has practiced as a Clinical and Radiation Oncologist for over five years.  Dr Iiyambo joined the Radiation Oncology department at the AB May Cancer Care Centre at Windhoek Central Hospital in January 2020 and Namibian Oncology Centre (NOC under limited private practice in February 2020. In addition to being a qualified oncologist through the colleges of Medicine in South Africa, she also holds a Master of Medicine degree in Radiation Oncology from the world renown Stellenbosch University, Cape Town, South Africa. Other qualifications held by Dr IIyambo include a Bachealor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Saratov State Medical School (Saratov, Russia) and a Diploma in comprehensive Nursing and Midwifery from the University of Namibia’s School of Nursing. Dr IIyambo treats all types of solid tumours but has a keen interest in cervical, breast and prostrate cancers. Dr IIyambo has presented at various international, regional and local conferences, as well as given talks on different media platforms on cancer awareness. She is currently the Head of Department for the Radiation Oncology at the Windhoek Central Hospital.
