
Mbangula Lameck Amugongo is an accomplished computing professional with over 12 years of experience, including roles in the telecommunication industry, academia and pharmaceutical. Currently employed as a postdoctoral researcher at Boehringer Ingelheim where he applies novel AI/ML across various clinical development tasks. Previously worked as a Lecturer at Namibia University of Science & Technology, where he taught courses on artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and software engineering. He also previously worked at the Institute for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence at the Technische Universität München, investigating ethical aspects related to trustworthy AI for the MELISSA -transform diabetes management for individuals with insulin-treated diabetes. Mbangula holds multiple degrees including a B.IT in Software Engineering, a BSc (Hon) in Computer Science ‘Cum Laude’, an MSc in Computer Science (NUST) and a PhD in Cancer Sciences from the University of Manchester. His PhD research focused on applying advanced data analysis techniques on thousands of 3D images of lung cancer patients to personalize radiotherapy treatment. Mbangula is passionate about ethical technologies and his research interests include Data Science, ethics in AI and digital transformation in medicine.
